Development Maps

For the past several years, I’ve been illustrating real estate site maps and community maps for BC-based developers like Morningstar Homes. These maps are often featured on their website and displayed in show home offices to help potential buyers understand available lots and the amenities offered in the surrounding neighbourhoods. Additionally, they are used in development proposals and phase plans presented to the city.

Artistic Site Maps

I create these maps using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. The site maps are designed in a painterly, watercolor style to reference the traditional hand-painted renderings that were once used. I illustrate these maps to be visually appealing so they can also be used as a sales feature while the land is in its early phases of development. Often these maps are printed to show which lots have been sold with a sold stickers on the lots.

‘Cute’ Community Maps

The "cute" community map style was created to help potential buyers easily identify amenities while capturing the unique character of each community. Each community map I create is tailored with a unique colour palette and title style, designed to align with the specific development brand and the personality of the community itself. To ensure accuracy and capture the true essence of each location, I use Google Maps to study the surrounding nature, street views, and key landmarks.
